    AWE Asia celebrated its 10th annual conference with a spectacular event, bringing together Asia's leading XR innovators, investors, developers, media, and companies. Held at the Singapore Expo from August 26th to 28th, 2024, AWE Asia 2024 attracted over 2,000 participants from over 40 countries and regions. The conference highlighted the Asia Pacific region's position at the forefront of spatial computing and innovation, creating a dynamic platform for XR professionals and brands to connect, learn, and grow together.

     

    A key highlight was the AWE Asia Auggie Awards, which honored the most groundbreaking AR and VR advancements. Niantic won Best in Show - AR, for its innovative Scaniverse 4 app, employing Gaussian splatting techniques for capturing 3D spaces with exceptional precision and speed. Tokyo Dome received Best in Show - VR, while XPANCEO was awarded the Awesome Award for its visionary innovations, setting new standards in the XR industry.

     

    The event also saw the unveiling of cutting-edge XR technologies, including a multi-platform cloud-rendering breakthrough by NTT DOCOMO and NTT Communications. This innovation leverages edge-computing to deliver seamless, real-time 3D video experiences on mobile devices, enhancing accessibility and performance.

     

    AWE Asia 2024 featured an impressive lineup of speakers. Mark Jeffery from Meta delved into "The Future of Mixed Reality and Workplace Connection," while Brian McClendon of Niantic introduced a 3rd generation digital map designed for immersive mixed reality experiences. HTC's Global VP, Alvin Wang Graylin, shared insights on the future of XR and AI, and Dr. Mark Billinghurst explored the evolution of cross-reality interfaces.

     

    AWE Asia 2024 was a resounding success, reaffirming the region’s pivotal role in the XR landscape and setting the stage for future innovation. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to shape the future of XR technology!
